BUCHAREST, July 26 (Xinhua) -- Romanian President Nicusor Dan said Sunday that Romania had shot down a new drone over Romania's territorial waters, in the Sulina-Chilia area.

Dan pointed out that the investigations regarding the drones shot down yesterday and today are ongoing, adding that, according to the investigation carried out by the Prosecutor General's Office, the drone shot down on Friday morning is of the Shahed type, used by the Russian Federation.

"Romania's diplomatic protest to the Russian Federation will be based on these investigations," he said.

According to Romania's Ministry of National Defense, a drone was safely shot down in an unpopulated area in the Buzau County on Friday, and another one was downed about 10 km west of Sfantu Gheorghe on Saturday.

Romanian Foreign Minister Oana-Silvia Toiu announced on Sunday that Russian ambassador in Bucharest was summoned following "repeated violations" of Romania's airspace by the Russian Federation. ■
