LUSAKA, April 18 (Xinhua) -- Zambia's cabinet has approved a policy aimed at promoting decent work in all sectors, according to a release on Thursday.

The approved National Employment and Labor Market Policy was aimed at supporting inclusive economic growth and development through promotion of gainful and decent work in all sectors.

The statement noted that the policy, which was a revision of the 2015 policy, provides mechanisms to formalize the informal sector and enhance national productivity.

The policy will also promote respect for fundamental principles and rights at work as well as strengthen the labor administration and labor market information systems, it adds.

"The policy further provides strategies for enhancing social security system for all Zambians. It is envisaged, therefore, that with the implementation of the policy objectives this will contribute to inclusive growth and poverty reduction in the country," the statement said.
