KIEV, Aug. 17 (Xinhua) -- Ukraine's aircraft equipment producer Motor Sich on Friday stressed the importance of cooperation with China in response for a call from the U.S. media to stop such cooperation.

On Aug. 15, The Washington Times media outlet published a story, which said that the U.S. administration must "pressure" Ukraine to halt the sales of jet engines produced by Motor Sich to China.

In a press statement that was published by Interfax-Ukraine news agency, Motor Sich stressed that China is the strategically important partner for Ukraine and warned that the possible halt in jet engines supplies may negatively affect Ukraine's aircraft production industry.

Motor Sich, which is based in Zaporizhia city in southeastern Ukraine, is one of the largest jet engines manufacturers in the world. It delivers products to more than 100 countries worldwide.
