SINGAPORE, July 5 (Xinhua) -- Singapore stocks closed higher on Thursday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) up 0.36 percent or 11.82 points to close at 3,256.71.

A total of 1.85 billion shares changed hands with a turnover of 973.3 million Singapore dollars (about 713.52 million U.S. dollars). Losers outnumbered gainers by 200 to 175.
